Ava Morgenstern’s essay was selected amongst 143 entries to win the 2016 Chapman LLC Law School Scholarship Essay Contest.

The contest question was to write about the best single piece of advice that they have ever received and Ava chose to write about this adage attributed to the ancient Jewish scholar Rabbi Tarfon: “It is not your responsibility to complete the work, but neither are you free to desist from it.”

Ms. Morgenstern, a summa cum laude graduate of Brandeis University, has a particular interest in immigrant rights and during the summer of 2016 was a summer intern at the AIRE Centre.

The AIRE centre summer internship program hosts interns at our central London office. Applicants come from Michigan, Georgetown and Columbia law schools as well as from across Europe. The full time internships give law students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience litigating before EU and domestic courts. They also gain awareness of application of European law rights and are able to assist marginalised individuals and those in vulnerable circumstances to assert those rights.
