  • UK INDUSTRIES AT RISK: A THIRD OF EU NATIONALS ARE YET TO SECURE THEIR UK SETTLED STATUS

    Up to a third of UK-based EU nationals are yet to secure their UK settled status, risking the stability of UK businesses. Over a million Europeans living in the UK haven’t yet secured their status, despite the success rate of applications to date being over 99.9%.In November, of 305,600 EUSS applications, just one was refused on suitability grounds.     The AIRE Centre has submitted a written intervention in the case of Fjölnisdóttir and others v Iceland. We call on the Court to ensure that the best interests of the child are accorded, at a minimum, the primacy that is set out in Article 3 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) in any decision on legal parentage.   • Landmark decision in J.D. and A v. The United Kingdom

    The UK’s bedroom tax has been found to be unjustifiably discriminatory in the case of a victim of domestic violence who had been placed in social housing under the “Sanctuary Scheme”. The European Court of Human Rights made the ruling on 24th October 2019 in a landmark decision. The AIRE Centre intervened in the case. Read more
