EuroBrits Norway

The EuroBrits Norway project helped UK nationals who moved to Norway before 1 January 2021 with securing their residence status now that the UK has left the EU. The AIRE Centre implemented the EuroBrits Norway project until the end of September 2021.

UK nationals who were legally residing in Norway before 1 January 2021 do not have to abide by the 90 days in every 180 day period with respect to their residence in Norway. However, they should apply for the new residence permits by 31 December 2021.

If you are a UK national who moved to Norway before the end of the year 2020, you can read our information sheets and watch our webinars for more information on the procedure and documentation necessary for a successful application.

You can visit our EuroBrits Residence Guide where you can find concise information on the Separation Agreement. You can also take a quick quiz to find out whether you are a beneficiary of the Separation Agreement by clicking here.

Information Sheets

We have produced a series of information sheets designed to provide practical information to UK nationals seeking to secure their residence in Norway. We want these sheets to be as helpful as possible and want to know if they have supported you in obtaining a residence permit or if they have assisted you to help someone else do so. Please help us to improve our service by giving us feedback on these resources HERE.

NOTE that all of the following information sheets were accurate on 30 September 2021. We have not updated our information sheets since the end of the EuroBrits Norway project.

1. UK nationals' right to reside in Norway now that the UK has left the EU

2. What does the EFTA Separation Agreement mean for UK nationals in Norway?

3. How can UK nationals in Norway secure their residence under the Brexit regulations?

4. How can UK nationals with the right of permanent residence in Norway secure their residence under the Brexit regulations?

5. How can family members of UK nationals secure their residence under the Brexit regulations?

6. How can UK nationals who are either frontier workers or posted workers in Norway secure their residence status now that the UK has left the EU?

7. How does the residence status of UK nationals affect their rights to healthcare in Norway during the Coronavirus pandemic?

8. How can UK nationals appeal a rejection of their application for a residence permit?

9. Residence Permits under the Separation Agreement FAQs

Webinars

The EuroBrits Norway team has hosted 3 webinars so far.

1. In our first webinar was held on 16 March 2021, our legal expert gave a presentation on how to apply for the correct residence document and decoded residence permits, residence cards, and permanent residence. You can watch a recording of the webinar here

2. Our second webinar was held on 21 April 2021 and focused on answering UK nationals' most frequently asked questions about the new residence permits and residence cards. You can watch a recording of the webinar here

3. Our third webinar was held on 16 June 2021 and was organised as a Q&A session based on questions we have received and relate to matters that perplex UK nationals. The EuroBrits team touched upon questions regarding the legal requirements and practical information for residence permits and cards as well as Covid-19 restrictions. You can watch a recording of the webinar here and a document summarising all questions and answers put forth in the webinar here
