The AIRE Centre wants the UK government to lift this month's deadline on EUSS applications, joining over forty other organisations in a letter to the Prime Minister today.

In the letter, Boris Johnson was warned that "significant numbers of eligible people remain at risk of falling out of status and rights after the deadline".

Matthew Evans, the Centre's director, also told The Guardian: "With less than thirty days to go before the deadline for applying to the EUSS expires, there is an urgent need for clarity around what will happen to those individuals unable to apply through no fault of their own. It's unnacceptable that EU citizens who have built their lives here will be left undocumented without the rights or means to continue to live in the UK, simply due to an arbitrary deadline. This is not something that is in the gift of the voluntary sector to change but instead requires cross government department support and action."
