EASO Consultative Forum Athens The consultative forum took place over two days and provided an opportunity for over two hundred civil actors working in the sector to network and exchange information on the asylum process across Europe, with a particular focus on Greece. These included inter alia the UNHCR, ECRE, the Red Cross and many other organisations active in Europe on the issue of refugee protection. Markella was following up on the “With Greece” report written by The AIRE Centre and ECRE earlier this year providing recommendations on refugee protection within the Greek context. This report outlined the challenges faced by individuals in accessing asylum due to increased complexity and procedural layers, a lack of simple and unequivocal information, as well as significant gaps in legal assistance. Markella highlighted on behalf of The AIRE Centre the urgent need for accurate, up to date and appropriate information for asylum seekers and refugees in Greece, especially unaccompanied and separated children. This came as a natural conclusion following the report finding that there is a lack of suitable, child-friendly information in the Greek camp of Moria.
