The AIRE Centre, the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Supreme Court of Republika Srpska and the Appellate Court of Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the support of the United Kingdom government, will hold a conference "Combatting Femicide in Bosnia and Herzegovina – International Standards and Case-Law of BiH Courts“ on 25 March 2022 in Sarajevo.

The conference will bring together representatives of courts and prosecutors' offices, institutions and non-governmental organizations from Bosnia and Herzegovina to discuss improving the work of judicial institutions in processing and preventing femicide. Robert Spano, President of the European Court of Human Rights, who is coming on his first official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, will deliver a keynote speech.

During the conference, we will present the "Analysis of the Case-Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina Courts on Femicide and Attempted Femicide“, prepared by the AIRE Centre in cooperation with the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Supreme Court of Republika Srpska and the Brcko District Court of Appeals. The analysis offers an overview of criminal law regulations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also provides a deeper insight into the emergence of femicide and the work of various institutions on its prevention and prosecution. The Analysis is available in BHS and English.
